Fleet-Inn Website

I have finally finished my latest project, which is a redesign of the Fleet Inn website.

Now I should put out there straight away that this was just a personal project.  There were two main reasons I wanted to redesign this site.  The first point is that a friend of mine has recently moved in to a pub and asked me if I could design their new pub website for them, of course I said yes, but this got me thinking, umm what could I design it like.  The second was to build the website using HTML5 as this is what I want to start using from now on.

The site was designed to be built on WordPress; I chose this platform because I think that WordPress is a very easy CMS for normal computer users to use and to update their website.  This is because the backend were you type the content has all the icons from Microsoft Word which I think makes it easier for normal people to use.

I chose the Fleet Inn because it is a pub which I have worked and spend many summer nights drinking at, not recently but in the past.  The Fleet Inn is a really nice country pub which seats by the river and in the summer all the people that own boats ride up the river, park their boats up by the garden and have a nice pub launch before carrying on up the river.

So let’s have a look at the old site:

As you can see the old site is not very good, to me it has been designed in Front page and for all those people who can remember the word that came to mind was “Geocities”.  The only parts are took from this site was the copy and some of the pictures.  If the site was ever going to be done for real then I would have a professional photography take some pictures in the summer of the pub to get the best images around.
