My redesign of Ministry of Cheese.co.uk
May 12, 2010Let me first by saying that this was just a personal project and Ministry Of Cheese have no idea that I have done this.
Ministry Of Cheese or Cheese as the night is own as is a club night which happens on Friday Nights in Cheltenham at Moo Moo Clubrooms, which is the newest clubs in Cheltenham. Now I happen to know the owners of the brand and Cheese was the first place that I started DJing at, but not party music, House music and Dance Music.
Cheese is not all about party tunes; they also have an RnB room and a House and Dance room. The old site which I happen to look after while I was working for them is now looking a bit old and I thought it was be a good project to undertake and give me the opportunity to try out some CSS3.
So let’s start by looking at the current site:

As you can see the colours are striking but if you go to the night you will know that they sell T-shirts and Girls wear Pink and the Boys ones are blue. So this is where the colour scheme comes from.
Another think about the site is there really is not much on the site, the home page and the event page are same with only the Gallery page being a login page and the Contact page hosting the contact information which is just a list of email address on which is fine.
So what changes was I going to change? Well the home page I think should have all the information on it about the night, so on my redesign I have placed this information on the home page.
The Gallery page on the old site (current site), the user had to login. Now they have done this so they could get information on users so they could send email to them to let them know about what is coming up. But with the rise in social media like Facebook and Twitter I really do not think there is a need for a login page if people want to see their pictures. Most nightclub nights should have a Facebook Fan page or Group or both and a Twitter account, Facebook is where most of the customers will view their pictures from there night because they can tag themselves and comment on the photos.
Another page I have change is I have added a video section, With You Tube being freely available I have thought that Cheese could set up their own channel and post videos from each week. This gives people a better idea of what the night is about, which to be fair is just having a laugh to cheesy party music.
The Contact Page is I have kept the same; I would just place a contact form underneath but again with Facebook and Twitter becoming even more popular a lot of people will try and get in contact thought social media networks first.
Under all of the main content is the social media icons which would link to the Facebook group, Twitter Page and You Tube channel.
The new site I have designed also features CSS3 shadows and rounded corners, So for the best possable view of the new site please use Firefox or Google Chrome as these browsers support CSS3 the best at this time. The site will working on Internet Explorer but you won’t get the full experience.

Click here or on the image to view the site and please let me know what you think.
